Now playing: A Lover Is Forever by Trisha Yearwood

When you insert a link in a WordPress blog, when it gives you the "target" choice of whether you want to "Open Link in Same Window" or "Open Link in New Window" - which is better? Would the choice depend upon if you were linking something to your own site versus if you were linking out to another site?
Excellent question. Generally, if I'm linking to somewhere on my own site, I have it open in the same window, and if I'm linking out, I have it open a new window, my reasoning being that I want my site window (or tab, whatever) to remain open as long as possible so they will see it again. This especially applies if the outgoing link is in the middle of one of my articles and I'm afraid they'll forget to come back and read the rest of it.
What do visitors prefer? Well, it's impossible to please everyone, because some people hate it when links open in new windows because they end up with too many windows littering their desktop, but just as many on the other side of the issue hate when everything opens in the same window because they lose track of where they are. I fall into the latter category, so generally I opt toward "new window" most of the time when I'm creating outbound links.
I LOVE my “job.” Affiliate marketing takes work, but it doesn’t feel like work.
