I’m finally “live”! However, still pretty much “hidden” from the general public! I’m not ready to become totally official, and I learned in Lesson 20 how to prevent search engines from indexing my files and folders. So cool! I’ve been working on installing the blogging software WordPress, learning in detail about the back end of my web site, which is all about the administration and creation of my web site, and learning a little bit about HTML (which I learned in Lesson 13 of the Affiliate Marketing Schoolbook stands for Hyper Terminal Markup Language – fancy huh! It’s the language of the computer that allows you to create your web site so it can be viewed!). I’ve also been designing (rather, trying to anyway) the “skin” or the look of my web site which is detailed in Lesson 19.
Please allow me to digress for a moment back to Lesson 12 - at the back of the course book, Laura has a page to be filled out (if you want to, of course) called the “Sanity Saver.” You can list all the important information about your web site on one single sheet and she has items listed for everything! Absolutely helpful for sure! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve referred to it already without wasting time (and with four kids, who has time to waste!) trying to remember every little detail, password, etc.
In between all of this, I’ve been making a list of topics that I’m going to be writing about, topics which I feel would be useful for the readers as well as beneficial for my site. I’ve also leaped ahead a bit and written a few posts and articles. Haven’t hit the “publish” button of course; they are still in the “drafts” section of the back end of my site.
Maybe you’re curious as to what my site will be about? After much deliberation which I spoke about in my first couple of posts, I made the decision to go with a topic I’ve actually been learning about myself. It’s about the fascinating subject of Cellulite! Ew, ick – yes, that dreaded word that I’ve since found that pretty much every woman and some men of all shapes and sizes can relate to.
Now I must admit this is something fairly new for me. I never really thought much about it, never had to deal with it - until (gasp) the end of last summer! I caught the backside of my legs in the mirror one morning upon leaving for the beach with my kids. I was like – what the heck? I’m a skinny chick, how the heck did I get cellulite hahaha (and did this literally happen overnight to me?) – At first I thought it was because I turned 40 during the summer. Anyway, thus began my silent journey into the world of researching cellulite for my own personal benefit and I’ve learned a lot. Anyway, when I began thinking about what to base my site around, and after doing a lot of keyword research as well as some market research for cellulite treatments and products, I decided to give it a go!
The name of the web site……drum roll please.....is www.fightthecellulite.com. Yeah, I know, exciting, huh! Well, for me it is! Right now, all that’s up is pretty much a shell - boring and basic. Laura discussed in the Affiliate Marketing Schoolbook about not spending too much time getting the site all pretty on the outside because what really counts is what’s on the inside of your site. I’ve learned that as long as my layout is something as a newbie I can work with, I know that the “glam” part of my site can come at a later time.
Until next time…..

Laura's comments:
This will be exciting for Kelli—and us—as we finally can actually see her site, even though there's not much there yet. I took a screenshot so you can see how it looks at the time of this writing (the whole purple area is my very busy browser, not part of her site):
Her niche is a competitive one, but obviously she has found some keywords that she feels she'll be able to rank for. She'll be sharing with us later how she's incorporating some of her keywords into her articles and into the meta tags.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO READERS: As you follow along with this case study, I ask that you not start your own site about cellulite in imitation of Kelli. Obviously, I can't stop anyone from doing that, but I think that as a courtesy to Kelli for being so generous with her time and effort to perform this case study, we should come up with our own ideas. Any attempt to copy her is not likely to be successful anyway. Those who succeed at this in the long run are those who develop their own ideas with their own style and personality. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Way to go, Kelli! (By the way, you lose your sight after 40 as well, so better watch where you're going.)

I LOVE my “job.” Affiliate marketing takes work, but it doesn’t feel like work.
